Part of Common Ground’s ethos is to help encourage people to invest in both physical and mental well being. As the great mindfulness teacher John Kabat Zinn pointed out – we must regain the balance in our lives (or homeostasis as he terms it) to bring us to full health.
For that reason we invite practitioners to run classes in various therapies and disciplines that support a healthy lifestyle.
We are also committed to providing these classes at competitive rates and on occasion for free. All Common Ground members get an automatic 20% reduction on class fees.
Here is some of what we provide – please scroll down to see all practitioners

In his own words…
‘I have been practising the Jivamukti yoga method for 12 years. In the early days, I focused only on the physical practice, working alongside my gym sessions to help prevent injuries. Cat alip Douglas was my first yoga teacher and she is still my guru and mentor today. She has passed down these ancient teachings in an honest and beautiful way, embracing all of the yogic principles and practices.
In 2007 I developed a serious illness and this is when my practice deepened to incorporate the mindful and spiritual side, while the physical side had to take a step back. I am 100% convinced that my whole yoga practice was a huge factor in a speedy recovery from my illness.
In 2013, after many yoga retreats, I decided to follow this yoga journey to the next level and complete the Jivamukti 300HR teacher training in Costa Rica. I trained with the founders of Jivamukti, Sharon Gannon and David Life, as well as the inspiring Yogeswari and Jeffery (Rama) Cohen. This was the best experience of my life to date and I am deeply honoured to be able to pass down these ancient and beautiful teachings that have survived unchanged for thousands of years.
In my classes, the breath, mind and body are brought into harmony, while we sweat and we laugh.
The teacher will always be a student, the student will always be a teacher.’
Robs classes are usually on a Saturday – twice monthly – check our calendar for more details . To contact Rob -
Irish Cuddle Salon at Common Ground facilitated by Randy Ralston.
From birth through death, humans (and indeed all mammals) have a biological, neurological, spiritual and emotional and social need to give and receive loving, non-sexual touch and affection. It is crucial for our mental and social development and emotional wellbeing. Unfortunately, the pace of modern society has left us lacking, with little opportunity for quality connection with others.
Though touch is natural, the skills that make it welcome and enjoyable have to be learned. Skills of communication, boundary identification, asking for what you want, and saying ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ with clarity and kindness.
Nurturing, welcomed, consensual touch is good for you. Cuddles are especially good for:
* Lowering blood pressure
* Relieving pain
* Calming your nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety
* Lowering your risk of heart disease
* Boosting your immune system
* Stable and vibrant emotional health and overall wellbeing
* Enhancing your ability to connect and deepen trust with others
* Increasing your ability to respect and care for yourself, your creativity, sense of safety, comfort and belonging.
Cuddle parties will be organised on a monthly basis.
